Workshop Feedback

Students’ Work

A selection from a variety of workshops including my felt school which runs every year in February.

“I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed your workshop last weekend. It was brilliant and I came away feeling very excited about trying larger pieces and experimenting with more surface design. I have finished my vessel at last and am really pleased with it.”

“Thank you so much for your generous, good natured & clear teaching the last four days ! I had a wonderful time & learnt so much …I tried to decide which was my favourite technique but couldn’t & I am sure they will all feature over & over in the future.”

“On behalf of us all we just wanted to thank you so much for the inspirational workshop over the past two days. Everyone learned a lot of new skills and went home with something wonderful and a head full of ideas for other experiments. We are looking forward to seeing photos of everyone’s finished work once it is all dried at home. (Mine is drying in the garden as I write so I will share pics soon.)

Very best wishes from the London feltmakers and our guests from region 5.”

I have worked as an artist in residence in several schools and am always impressed by the enthusiasm and creativity of the students.

Furnaces and Cauldrons Project (2009)

As part of the Cultural Olympiad and taking the Blaenavon Ironworks as inspiration, I worked with three groups teaching feltmaking, pewter casting and anodised aluminium creating felt books.

The Myth of Treorchy Junior School (2008)

I worked with each class in the school to create felt banners to hang in the school hall to illustrate the myth of the dragon that lives in the school boiler room.

RCT Small Schools’ Network (2008)

Mandy worked with the RCT Small Schools’ Network to produce nuno felt wallhangings. The childrens’ drawings translated brilliantly into felt.
